Description:
MCLD was engaged to provide the lighting services for the new Ottawa airport. We were responsible for all of the lighting at the facility, encompassing the interior, exterior, and roadway. We worked very closely with the contractor throughout the project. The architect requested that there be no hanging fixtures over the three storey high area around the baggage carousel. To accommodate this, MCLD lit the space with lights mounted at the end of the carousels reflecting off mirrors located in the ceiling. Security concerns following the September 11 attacks presented new priorities which effected the lighting budget for the project, producing additional challenges. Nevertheless, MCLD managed to satisfy the demanding security requirements and at the same time managed to live up to its new lighting vision.
